Today I decided to start a “Happyness” project blog to record all the little things in life that make me really happy each day.
Project Happyness #1:
I ran for the first time after so many years (I can’t remember when is the last time I did that). I ran and sweat it out for about 3 km at a nearby stadium. Although it’s not a distance to brag about, it’s a small step forward and really feels good!
It’s scientific proven that when we exercise, we will become happy. When we exercise, our body releases a protein called Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor. It has a protective and also reparative element to your memory neurons and acts as a reset switch. That’s why we often feel at ease and things are clear after exercising.
At the same time, endorphins, is released in our brain. These endorphins tend to minimize the discomfort of exercise, block the feeling of pain and are even associated with a feeling of euphoria.
Overall, there is a lot going on inside our brain and it is in fact oftentimes a lot more active than when we are just sitting down or actually concentrating mentally.
Keep calm, run and be happy!
